PERKINS ENGINES has just completed a E200,000 investment in a new production line for building the 4.108 diesel.
The new line — dubbed the "J-Hook" line — replaces the conventional production line on which this engine had previously been built. Assembly workers can ni move all around the engi which can also be tilted to a desired angle for easy workinc Integrated sub-assembly s tions have been introduced, E abling such work to be do actually on the line. This h been fitted with pneumatic toc fed from an air supply with special dryer to prevent prc lems with water in the col pressed air.
IVECO has taken over controlling 51 per cent share c its Irish importer, Frank Fahe Commercials, in a deal whic ends speculation about th company's future.
The company's former mar aging director, Frank Fahel has consistently claimed thE he and his wife have totall owned the four-year old firm.
Fahey built up lveco's Irisl sales from a 5.2 per cent mai ket share in 1978 to 11.5 pc cent in 1981, and sold 50 vehicles last year.
