A NEW fire appliance has started service with the fire brigade which forms part of the Department of the Environment's fire precautions at Windsor Castle.

The vehicle was built by Carmichael Fire, the Worcesterbased fire fighting division of Carmichael Fire and Bulk Ltd, and is a Light Pumping Appliance on a 272cm (109in) Land Rover V8 chassis.

A 405 litre (90 gallons) first-aid water supply is carried and a Godiva 2,250 litre per minute (500gpm) pump is mounted at the rear of the vehicle.
