Known at Quickerstryp 104/2, the product is fairly viscous for ease of control on vertical surfaces, and can be rinsed off with water.

Protecting Metal STATED to have twice as good adhesion as an orthodox primer, Pitan metal conditioner is a pre-finishing anti-corrosion preparation made by Allweather Paints, Ltd., 36 Great Queen Street, London, W.C.2. It can be applied to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, except lead, by brush, spray or dip, and the

covering capacity is 60-80 sq. yd. per gal.

Without a final coat, Pitan, it is claimed, will protect ferrous metals under outdoor conditions for up to 18 months and non-ferrous up to a year, whilst it can he used on metals to be welded as it leaves little ash.

Guarding Takings A BANK of 88 safes made up of Dexion slotted angle has been built at the Lincoln station of the Lincolnshire Road Car Co., Ltd. The company wished to solve the problem of safeguarding conductors' takings. The bank has a separate cabinet for each conductor and faces the paying-in room whilst the back is accessible to the ticket office. ' Each safe cabinet has a combination lock.•

As a conductor finishes his shift, he unlocks his safe and deposits the day's takings in a special cash box which may be withdrawn the next day from the other side. Similar installations have been made at Grantham and Scunthorpe stations. Dexion, Ltd., Maygrove Road, London, N.W.6, supplied 600 ft. of their slotted angle for the purpose.

Finding Leaks THE Calidec cable test set is a portable instrument which works off dry batteries as employed in portable radios. Standard types are made to indicate leaks of up to 3 megohms, but special instruments can be produced to indicate up to 10 megohms. Indication is given both visually by a lamp and audibly by bell.
