I N moving the adoption of the report of the executive committee of the Furniture Warehousemen and Removers Association, at the annual conference, at Chester, yesterday (Thursday), Mr. H. V. Bishop, president, referred to the important matter of representation. He said that the correct representation of the views of the industry in official circles was likely to be vital in the future As regards road-rail co-operation, the Association had _conferred with the railways in a scheme for the granting of discounts by the latter to members who placed their traffic on rail, but these efforts had proved fruitless.

The necessity of the Association's attempt to stabilize removals rates was emphasized by the insistence of the Licensing Authorities upon the building up of an economic rates structure.

In referring to the work of the F.W.R.A., Mr. Bishop remarked that, in the matter of insurance alone, an important concession had been obtained in the waiving of the power of subrogation in work between members.

Mr. Bishop presented certificates of associateship to successful candidates and awards to those who had passed the estimators' examination'. In the latter connection, a silver medal was presented by Mr. Good to Mr. J. H. Wallace, of Brixton, London, S.W.9, who secured the highest number of marks.
