NEW ASSOCIATION FORMED IN THE WEST.

N'e,rs is received of the fonnation of a new association. To be known as the Welsh and Western Counties TransportOa ners' Association, Ltd., the company was registered on May 8; with a capital of £1,-000 in K)t) preference shares of 21, and 2,000 ordinary shares of Is.

The objects are stated to be the promotion of an association of motor and commercial-vehicle owners, etc. The directors are Messrs. A. S. Morris, 17, Hillside Road, London, S.W.2; W. M. Keatr, 1, West Place, Wauntcoda, Whitchurch, and J. T. Fairfield, Waungroes Road, Whitchurch.

The Association's solicitors are Messrs. Beach and Beach, 43, Aldwyoh, London, W.C.2, and the registered office is given as 22, Queen Street, Cardiff.

Scarborough Officers Elected.

Mr. W. H. Barker was elected chairman of the passenger section of A.R.O. Scarborough Sub-area, last week, when Messrs. A. E. Noble and R. G. Horsley were appointed vice-chairmen. The following were elected to the committee:—Messrs. R. Howard, J. Boddy, J. T. Fletcher, G. Crosby, Rawling and J. W. Morley.

Mr. L. Cadwallader, of .the Yorkshire headquarters staff of A.R.O., gave an address.

Two C-M.U.A. Meetings in Midlands.

On Wednesday and Thursday of last week, two C.M.U.A. meetings were held at Coventry and Walsall respectively. At Coventry, Mr. John Morton was in the chair, and among the speakers were Mr. J. Foley Egginton, secretary, West Midland Area, who spoke on licensing problems, and Mr. J. L. Kinder, national organizer, who emphasized the need for discipline among members of the Association.

Speaking on the subject of 'haulagerates stabilization, at a well-attended meeting, last week, of members of A.R.O. Huddersfield Sub-area, ,Mr. A. H. Butterwick suggested that the Huddersfield members should set up a local committee to .deal with the stabilization of rates in that district. Having reached something like a basis for local rates, the committee could then put its schedules before the Yorkshire Area executive of A.R.O., for the purpose of incorporating them in a wider scheme of stabilization.

Mr. J. E. Rogers, of the Yorkshire Area headquarters staff of A.R.Q., also gave an address, in which he explained what evidence waS required by --the Licensing Authority in support of the various types of licence application.

Leeds P.S.V. Operators Get Busy.

Mr. Harry Midgley was elected chairman of the passenger section of A.R.O. Leeds Sub-area, last week, and Mr. J. Keeling was appointed chairman. The foLlowing were elected to the committee:—Messrs. J. T. Rodgers, S. Stone, J. W. Heaps, M. A. Htrgreaves, E. Grange, W. Smith, S. Crossley, B. Walker, G. Cole, and J, W. Kitchin.
