Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

"IF-IF. EUROPEAN Commission (EC) plans to end the requirement for transport companies to provide statistics on paper, as demanded by current EL; regulations.

As part the Ells'Better Regulation strategy designed to cut red tape, Brussels wants to scrap the need for endless pen pushing, pointing out that much of the information can be found elsewhere.

The EC is focusing its attention on EU regulation No 11, which requires a transport document to be produced containing data such as the consignor, goods carried, their origin and destination, the route taken or distance travelled. including frontier crossing points where appropriate.

According to an EC mernorandum:"Since these latter elements (such as the route taken or distance travelled and frontier crossing points where appropriate) are no longer indispensable... they can be deleted."

Another rule likely to be ditched if the EC has its way is the requirement for hauliers to retain copies of records showing transport charges and rebates affecting transport rates and conditions. This information is available in the carriers' accounting systems anyway, . it concludes.
