Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• I have just read the letter from "Roger" (CM1-7March) and was left with a bad taste in my mouth.

rrn an Asian driver (Class 1) and passed in 1996.1 drive for a local law enforcement department. In my job I have to visit various farms, factories and industrial sites up and down the country; other sites include tips and scrap yards.

In all the time I have been working I have never encountered any racist abuse from staff on site or from my own employer.

Just like all truckers, I visit cafes etc and, apart from looks from locals or regulars to these cafes (which any strangers get) I have nothing else to report.

I am sure there is racism in the industry, but I also feel that a specific person's personality comes into play! Jatinool S Rai, Leamington Spa.

• I must give full credit to your driver campaign feature against racism in the HGV industry.

I am of ethnic origin and intend to apply for an HGV licence, Class C.

This is the kind of thing we need to highlight the many barriers that people of ethnic minorities face when they want to drive a truck. Let us see grants or other forms of financial support to help those who wish to be trained to drive an HOT Also let's see more features on this subject in the other trucking magazines.

Then and only then can campaigns like this be deemed a long-term success.
