Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• First try and talk with your customers to explain the problem—they might be more amenable than you think.

* Set realistic journey times. If you miss the delivery slot you will soon be sitting at the back of the queue.

Examine the whole operation for journeys that can be made at non-peak times; journey times at nig1rt are far more reliable.

• Look at the vehicles you are using. Could a double-decker or a different trailer help your operation become more efficient or speed up loading and unloading times?

• IT systems can radically improve vehicle utilisation. It's no surprise all the big firms are Investing heavily and it should be self-financing.

• Look at joining some sort of shared user network/pallet exchange to maximise payload. Could two customers' loads share a vehicle?
