Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A Gwent-based hairier is threatening to take a Scania dealership to court for loss of earnings following problems with a maintenance contract in the latest chapter of a long running dispute.

Dave Stephens from DF Stephens is pursuing the claim against the Silurian Scania dealership, based in Cardiff, after buying two 9x4 Scanias in 1996. Stephens claims failure to honour the contract cost him three months' work and nearly £60,000 in lost revenue.

Silurian Scania managing director Robert Penrose admits there were warranty problems with Stephens' trucks which led to them being off the road for three months. But he stresses that this situation was amicably resolved in Apri11999.

The dealer subsequently took DF Stephens to court over non-repayment of £1,500 for parts bought for two Scania tractive units. Penrose says the court action might have appeared heavy-handed but it was done through the correct channels and Stephens put forward no defence.

Penrose says he has yet to receive any letter concerning a claim for damages from Stephens' solicitors.
