Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

E Series. This particular model, the EC10 35, is powered by a 10litre Cummins Turbo/air-to-air intercooled Celect diesel engine developing 350bhp at 1,900rpm.

The motor meets Euro-1 specifications and has an electronically controlled engine management system. Lights on the dash flag engine faults which then must be corrected via serial communications. If faults are neglected the management system will progressively retard the engine's performance to prevent serious damage.

The efficiency of this system results in excellent fuel consumption figures (9.23mpg as recorded by CM). Another contributory factor in this impressive performance is the aerodynamic cab. Redesigned by ERF and boasting a 10-year anti-corrosion warranty, driver comfort inside is maximised and improvements to the gearchange action make life much easier behind the wheel.

The rest of the vehicle, including the chassis, suspension and brakes, remains largely unchanged from the E Series.

For a practical look at the EC10 35 we visited ERF dealer Sellers & Batty in Luton to inspect a pristine example owned by K Fleming Transport and on contract to Fairholme Haulage.
