• Spicer previewed its twin' plate Solo clutch at IRTE '95 It uses two sliding cams to compensate automatically for wear while maintaining uniform clamp load. Selling points are reduced maintenance and increased longevity, claims Spicer.
Developed in the US, the Solo includes a sealed-for-life release bearing and has a wear indicator for a quick guide to remaining serviceable life. First in the UK will be units for vehicles up to 26 tonnes and then the concept will be applied to heavier vehicles. Write No 71 on the reader reply card.
