• The share price of Shipping Industrial Holdings rose on Tuesday to 350p as a result of speculation about a possible takeover offer by Furness Withy. The shares closed at 345p, an increase of 24p on the previous day's figure. Shipping Industrial has extensive transport subsidiaries including Cyprien-Fox (Transport), Cyprien-Fox (Newport), Howe Transport, of Enfield, and Alltransport, of London.
Neither SIH nor Furness would comment on the speculation when approached on Wednesday.
