FOR WASTE DISPOSAL: Following the Mechanical Handling Exhibition, Powell Duffryn Engineering Co., Ltd., of Cardiff, have received orders worth £21,000 for their Dempster range of waste disposal units. These include orders for two Dempster Dumpsters and 35 containers, one Dempster DB.30 Dumpmaster and one Dempster Dinosaur with five containers.

LEY LAND BUS ORDERS; Prominent among recent orders for buses received by Leyland are one from Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., for 24 Leyland Leopard PSUC3.I single-deckers and one for 23 more Atlantean double-deckers from Plymouth Corporation. Other municipal orders for Leyland buses have been placed by Leicester (10 Titan PD3A.1,1, Rawtenstall (four Titan PD3A.1 and two Leopard L.1) and Exeter (five Titan PD24.30). Two Tiger Cub PSUC1.12 models have been ordered by Alex Smith Coachways, Beesion. The South Notts Bus Co. are to have a Lowlander LR.3 double-decker.

U.T.A. ORDER RELIANCE: The Ulster Transport Authority, have placed orders for 52 A.E.C. Reliance chassis, Bodies will be r4

corestructed by the Authority in their own workshops. Forty chassis will be built to normal specification, which includes the A.E.C. AVU.470 diesel engine, and will have final drive ratios of 4.7 : 1, The remaining 12 vehicles will go into special service in Londonderry and will have uprated engines, a final drive ratio of 5.87 : 1 and powerassisted ueering.

MORE MERCURIES FOR B.R.S.:. British Road Services have ordered 23 more A.E.C. Mercury tractive units. They will have Taskers fully automatic semitrailer coupling gear.

FOR GLASGOW FIRES: Glasgow Fire Brigade have increased their Order for A.E.C. Mercury fire appliances to seven with a contract for four chassis placed last week through David Haydon, Ltd., of Birmingham.

MORE A.E.C.s: East Kent Road Car Co., Ltd., have ordered a total of 33 A.E.C.

singleand double-deck chassis. The orders call for 23 Regent Mk. V doubledeckers. and 10 Reliance 590 chassis for 36-ft.-long bodies.

m: EXPORT ORDER: Leyland Motors, Ltd., have secured a £1,500,000 contract from

Uruguay for 202 buses, against competition from Italy, Germany and Japan. The order is from C.U.T.C.S.A., a private enterprise co-operative in Montevideo and is for 95 Leyland Worldroaster chassis with bodywork by Metropolitan-Cammell Weymann, Ltd., 62 Worldmaster chassis and 45 LeylandM.C.W. Olympics of integral construction.

NEW ALBION IN DEMAND: Substantial orders for their new Chieftain Super Six trucks are reported by Albion Motors, Ltd. In the six weeks that the model has been available orders have been received for over 130 chassis worth over £250,000. The latest is from Pease Transport. Ltd., who have ordered 16 chassis.

SCAMMELL EXPORTS RISE: Export orders worth over £400,000 were placed for Seammell vehicles in May.

MOBILE SHOPS FOR SPAIN: Smith's Delivery Vehicles, Ltd., have received an order worth £75,000 from the Spanish Government. As part of a campaign to eliminate high profit margins and reduce the cost of basic foods, 20 5-ton mobile shops on Bedford chassis and five re-. frigerated containers have been ordered.
