THE names of purchasers of exBritish Road Services' lorries in

seven areas are reported this week. A number of direct acquisitions is included.

SCOTLAND

James Rice and Co., Ltd., Glasgow, have transferred two lorries, one (3 tons) going to Messrs. E. and M. McLuckie, Falkirk, and the other (31 tons) to Messrs. Barrie and Son, Lanark.

Nine lorries have been transferred by Mr. Samuel Anderson. Newhouse, Motherwell. D. Callander (Forfar), Ltd., Forfar, have taken five (241 tons), and William Griffiths (Whitburn), Ltd., Armadale, four (191 tons). Other assignments authorized by the Scottish Licensing Authority are a lorry (3 tons) to Mr. John Mitchell, 51 Almond Street, Grangemouth, by Cusick (Oldham), Ltd.. Thornton Street North, Manchester, 9; and one (21 tons) to Messrs. W. and J. Clark. Aberdeen, by Mr. R. M. Christie, Aberdeen.

NORTHERN AREA

Further assignments have been made by Mr. E. Waters, 84 St. Mary's Avenue. Monkscaton, a lorry (2 tons 17 cwt) going to Mr. P. Christenson, address not known; one (2 tons 16 cwt.) to Mr. F. The Northern Licensing Authority has also • authorized the transfer of a lorry (3 tons 9 cwt.) to Mr. W. 1-Itintley, Four Lane Ends, Helton-le-Hole, by Messrs. R. J. Bleanch and N. O'Hara, 3 Station Road. Hetion-le-Hole: one (21 tons) to Mr. J, N. Savage, Brooklands, Pcnrith, by Mr. A. N. Oliver, 40 Larch Street. Newcastle upon Tyne; and two (6 tons) to J. Stamper and Co. (Haulage), Ltd., Brooklands, Pcnrith, by Pearson (Hauliers), Ltd., Brooklands, Penrith.

NORTH-WEST

Three lorries (231 tons) based in Manchester have been acquired by Mr. S. Anderson, Wilson Road Garage, Newhouse, Motherwell, Prince Transport (Warrington), Ltd., 44 Arpley Street, Warrington, who have taken over a vehicle (1 ton) from Mr. T. H. Prince, of the same address, have transferred a lorry (8 tons) to Messrs. Walker Bros., Middleton Road. Heysham. and one (8 tons) to Messrs. Greenwood Bros. and Gaskell, 14 Brighton Road, Rirkdale. Southport.

Wilde and Bennett, Ltd., 75 Station Road. Hadfield, Manchester. have transferred to Messrs. Hornbys Transport, Commercial Mill. St. Paul's Street, Oswaldtwisfle, a lorry (5 tons) taken over from J. Stanworth and Bros. (Haulage). Ltd., St. Andrew's Garage. Bright Street, Barnsley. The North Western Licensing Authority has also authorized the following assignments: a lorry (5 tons) to Mrs. M. J. YORKSHIRE

Tim lorries have been made over to Mr. G. K. Levitt, The Myres, North Newbold. by Humber Transport, Ltd., Oxford Street, Hull. Wescol (Bradford), Ltd., Trinity Lane, Ripon, who have acquired another lorry, have transferred one to Mr. T. N. McQuccn, 171 Sprotborough Road. Doncaster.

Ackworth Transport Co., Ltd.. Wakefield Road, Ackworth, have assigned a lorry to Transport (Harrogate). Ltd.. Forest Lane. Harrogate; Mr. J. S. Butterfield, 30 Windermere Road, Carnforth, one to Messrs. Lawson and Ellis, Central Office, Slaidbum; C. L. Metcalfe (Transport), Ltd., Rose Laird, Park Lane, Cottingham, one to Messrs. E. Brown and Sons, Queensgate Filling Station, Beverley; Mr. E. Senior, 37 Bennett Street, Rotherham, one to Mr. F. EAST MIDLANDS

Mr. V. J. Grange, 124 Bridge Street, Peterborough. has transferred two more lorries, one (3 tons 9 cwt.) going to Aston Clinton Haulage Co.. Ltd., Dunn Mill, Whitchurch, Aylesbury, and the other (31 tons) to Mr. R. Knowles, Brookfield Works, Tansley, Matlock.

Special A licences have also been granted to Messrs. Brackenborough Bros., Station Road, Old Leake, near Boston, for two lorries (5 tons 18 cwt.); H. Byrne, Ltd., 2-4 Duke Street, Derby, three (13 tons 8 cwt.); and Mr. S. Cooke, Cottage Farm, Wessington, one (3 tons 7 cwt.).

EASTERN COUNTIES

Mr. V. J. Grange, 124 Bridge Street, Peterborough, has bought and resold more ex-B.R.S. lorries. One (3 tons) taken over from Mr. T. W. Hodge, Kenny Villa, Kenny Road, London, S.E.14, has now been transferred to Messrs. Newton Bros., Cowbridge, and three (12 tons) from Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., 229 Cross Lane, Salford, 5, have been split up as follows: one (3i tons) to Mr. J. H. Beacher, 67 Fengate, Peterborough; one (5 tons) to Vickers Transport Co. (Peterborough), Ltd., 36 St. Leonards Street, Peterborough; and one (31 tons) to Messrs. D. and M. Newton, Cowbridge, Boston.

0. G. Barnard and Sons, Ltd., Station Road, Stowmarket, have also been concerned in further transactions. They have transferred to Yoxford Transport Co., London Road, Yoxford, a lorry (31 tons), and to Mr. W. C. Lanham, Decoy Farm. Ortnesby, one (3 tons). Colwyn Transport (Peterborough), Ltd., 7 Church Street, Stanground, have acquired two lorries and a trailer, the lorries (51 tons) coming from Mr. H. Neave, Langley, Hitchin, and the trailer (II tons) from Peterborough Engineering Co., 44 Eye Road, Newark. G. T. Cain, Ltd., Polka Works, Wellsnext-the-Sea, have sold two lorries, one (31 tons) to Granges Transport Services. Ltd.. Wells-next-the-Sea, and one (21 tons) to Mr. S. W. Mitchley, 44 Jermyn Road, Gaywood. •

Other transfers authorized by the Eastern Licensing Authority are those of a lorry (31 tons) to MCSMS. Readers Transport. Seaber House, Fordham, by Turners (Soham), Ltd.. New Path, Fordham; one (31 tons) to F. W. Williams (Transport), Ltd., Ramnoth Road, Wisbech, by D■ awbarns, Ltd., of the same address; one (31 tons) to W. Barnard, Ltd., 7 Trawl Market, Lowestoft, by Mrs. E. A. Barnard, of the same address; and one (21 tons) to Mr. R. G. Woods, 3 Abbey Walk, Crowland, by Vickers Transport Co. (Peterborough). Ltd., who are also mentioned above.

WESTERN AREA

Wescot (Bradford), Ltd., Trinity Lane. Ripon, Yorks, have bought and transferred a lorry (3 tons 9 cwt.) based at Kensford. It has been made over to Messrs. K. Miles and Sons, Hayden Farm. Charminster. Mr. E. W. Horman, 119 Hollyhill Road, Kingswood, has had a lorry (3 tons 3 cwt.) transferred to him by John Bull (Bristol) Butchers, Ltd., 72 Stapleton Road, Bristol.
