'TIS week's prizewinner is Mr. J. urner, of Carrickfergus, N. Ireland. He says he recalls that some time ago in "Road and Workshop" Handyman suggested that a couple of hammer blows on the steering lever would, in many cases, ease a tight ball pin. But, Mr. Turner points out, the lever is often in an inaccessible position for hammering and the pin must be drawn. The type of drawer—either proprietary or as recommended by motor manufacturers in their manuals—is not strong or rigid enough to draw really tight pins.
The sketch supplied by Mr. Turner shows a drawer turned from a piece of solid steel bar which, he says, is easily made, fits well, and can be used in confined spaces. Above all, he stresses, it does not fail.
Comments Handyman: This is likely to be a useful addition to any kit, but I would think its use would be limited to light vehicles.
