J. and H. Transport Services (Peckham), Ltd., to Take Over 38 More Lorries

TENDERS for a further 38 lorries (100 tons 8 cwt.) submitted by J. and H. Transport Services (Peckham), Ltd., 1 la SeWert Road, London, S.E.15, have been accepted by the British Transport Commission. They made up 22 list 11 units, eight of which are based at Bow, five at Newington Butts, four at Greenwich, three at Woolwich, and one each at Finsbury and Tufnell Park. All the lorries are four-wheelers, makes comprising Bedford (26), Coromer (five), Dodge, Ford and Seddon (two of each), and an Austin.

NORTHERN AREA, Four lorries (12 tons) have been licensed to Messrs. Smart and Cardella, 4 Baltic Chambers, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne. One of these (3 tons 3 cwt.) has been transferred to Mr. J. J. Mullen, Rosedale Garage, Warwick Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, l. Mr. Mullen has also taken over a lorry (2 tons 19 cwt.) from Mrs. M. M. Smart, 161 Holly Avenue. Wallsend-on-Tyne. The Northern Licensing Authority has also authorized the transfer of a lorry 121 tons) to Blenheim Haulage, Ltd., 28 'Die Side, Newcastle upon Tyne, by R.A.H. Transporters. Ltd., of the same address.

NORTH-WEST.

A substantial repeat purchase has been .made by Sutton and Son (St. Helens), Ltd., 449 Prescot Road, St. Helens. It comprised 15 lorries and 11 trailers (1091 tons), and these have now been transferred to F. Davies (St. Helens), Ltd., Abbey Road, St. Helens.

Cusick (Oldham). Ltd.. Thornton Street, Manchester, 9, have had another eight vehicles, including two articulated outtits (44 tons), made over, to them by Mr.

A. Cusick, 282 Frederick Street, Oldham. In turn, they have now transferred one of ' the articulated outfits (71 tons) to F. C. Targett and Son, Ltd., 63 Kursley Road, Chandler's Ford.

Mr. Cusick has also sold lorries to: Mr. P. E. C. Bevis, 670 Charley Road, Westhoughton, one (3/ tons); Messrs. Grenfell Street Garage, 338 Upton Lane, . Widnes, one (51 tons); and Messrs. F. Milner and Son. Brewery Lane Garage, Lancaster, one (71 tons).

Special A licences for another two lorries (15 tons) have been granted to Cleave Transport (Audlem), Ltd., Holly Bank, Audtem, near Crewe. One of these (8 tons) came from Hacketts Haulage, Ltd.. and the other from J. W. Fieldsentl, Ltd., both of 229 Cross Lane, Salford.

Hacketts Haulage have also made over vehicles to Mr. T. McCauley. 37 Premier Street, Manchester, 2 (one-34tons), and Mr. W. Piggott, 128 Kingsbrook Road, Manchester. 16, (one-3 tons).

J. W. Fieldsend have transferred two other lorries: one (51 tons) to Garston Haulage Co., Ltd., 6 St. James Place, Liverpool, 8, and one (7) tons) to Mr. B. E. Tattersall, 25 Beverley Road, Manchester, 14.

One of two articulated outfits (10 tons) bought by Mr. P. A. Goring, 49 Brackenbury Road. -Preston, has been made over to Jones Transport Services (Liverpool), Ltd., 58 Regent Road, Liverpool, 20. The tractor and trailer have an unladen weight of 5 tons.

Mr. T. Shingler, Liverpool Road, Biekerstaffe, near Ormskirk, who has purchased two lorries (61: tons) from D. Pinnington, Ltd., 435 Liverpool Road, Hough Green, Widnes, has now transferred them to Mr. J. Rigby, Liverpool Road, Royal Oak, Biekerstalle, Messrs. Thompson Bros., Marsh Lane, New Mills, near Stockport, have made over two lorries (13/ tons) to Thompson Bros. (New Mills), Ltd., of the same address ; Cambridge Garage (Ma nebesce r), Ltd., 343a Stretford Road, Manchester, 15, one (2/ tons) to Mr. W. Piggott, 123 Kinsbrook Road, Manchester, 16; and Mr. G. Webb, in the West Midland Traffic Area, one (41 tons) to Mr. T. W. Bayley, Sandhach Farm, Henbury, nr. Macclesfield.

YORKSHIRE Most of the British Road Services' vehicles reported this week as having been sold in Yorkshire have gone to Sheffield operators.

Mr. G. A. Shepherd, Greenhill Service Station, Sheffield, 8, who has purchased 12 lorries, has transferred six to Mr. T. Fagan, 81 Ridgeway Drive, Sheffield, 12, four to Messrs. Rita Transport, 18 Manor Laithe Avenue, Sheffield, 2, and two to Mr. T. MeWilliam, Priesthill Farm, Cottage Lane, Sheffield, 11.

Headlands Transport, Ltd., 175 Long Line, Sheffield, II, have taken over four lorries from Mr. F. Headland, Clough Bank, Edmund Road, and four have also been transferred to Frank Sedgwiek,.Ltd., 16 Myhthurst Road, Sheffield, 11, by Mr.

F. Sedgwick, of the same address.

Hacketts Haulage, Ltd., 229 Crass Lane, Salford, have transferred two vehicles (61 tons) to F. H. Cooper and T. W. Hart, Ltd., 630 Chesterfield Road, Sheffield.

Another, Sheffield haulier, Mr. 3. W. Fleming, 42 Seagrave Road, has acquired a lorry from Aakworth Transport Co., Ltd., 92 Wakefield Road, Acicworth.

Mr. G. H. Wilkinson, 6 Moorland Avenue, Earby, Colne, has made over a lorry to G. H. Wilkinson and Sons, Ltd., of the same address.

WEST MIDLANDS Mr. P. Boden, 4 Council Houses, Dale Road, Coalbrookdale, Salop, has taken over a lorry (71 tons) from Oldbury Transport, Ltd., 100 Dudley Road East, Oldbury.

Mr. N. V. Allman, The Laurels, Shebdon, Stafford, has transferred a lorry (3 tons) to Mr. F. A. K Buckner, 12 Grotto Road, Market Drayton.

EAST MIDLANDS Another two vehicles (5 tons) have been purchased by Messrs. F. W. Randall and Son, Corton House, Horseshoe Street, Northampton. They made up Northampton unit 6381.

EASTERN COUNTIES A further two units have gone to Mr. V. J. Grange, Bridge Street, Peterborough. Both based at Bethnal Green (6268 and 6269), they comprise four lorries with a total unladen weight of 12 tons.
