THE Transport and General Workers'

Union conference at Blackpool on Tuesday passed unanimously a resolution calling on the Government to halt the sale of vehicles under the 1953 Act, and. to preventthe breakdown of the industry, _into even smaller groups than were in existence before nationalization. "The reiblution re-affirmed the union's belief, in the public ownership of the essential parts of the road haulage and road passenger transport services. Referring to the statement made by the Minister of Transport in the House of Commons on Monday, Mr. F. Cousins, national secretary of the corn

,

mercial services group of the union, said it was very moderate. It admitted that the trunk services still functioning were efficient. The Minister's comment that a large body of opinion thought it would be a pity if the remaining B.R.S. services were not retained was the understatement of the year." , Earlier, Mr. Cousins had argued the case for the renationalization of all B.R.S.,services and their inclusion in an integrated transport system. Private enterprise had, he said, brought back all the old abuses. The Mipister's statement seemed like a sign-. of weakness, said Mr. W.

Heywood, in moving--the resolution. .

The temperature of the acid has frequently been 33-400C. The manufacturers state that the new hose can be used with equal facility for ca4ing hydrochloric, formic, citrid. phosphoric and lactic acids, vegetable oils and caustic soda.
