MR. C. BURGESS, secretary, and MR. P. B. TUNKS have joined the board of Seottorn, Ltd. Mr. Tunks is works director.
MR. A. H. RYAN has been appointed a general-line representative of the Avon India Rubber Co., Ltd., to cover Manchester and north-east Cheshire.
MR. STANLEY S. DAWES has been installed as president of the Institute of the Motor Industry for the ninth time. The chairman of the council is MR. A, H. B. ADAMS.
MR. ALFRED F. BRISCOE, general manager of the depot of Kennings, Ltd., in Leadmill Road, Sheffield, for the past 18 years, has taken up residence in Sussex. He will continue to serve the company in the south.
MR. J. H. EWER, chairman and managing director of George Ewer and Co., Ltd., is recovering from a long illness. He is at present on a sea voyage to Indonesia. It is hoped that on his return he will be able to resume his business duties, MR. F. J. RUDKIN, manager of the jack department of Lake and Elliot, Ltd., has retired because of ill health. He had completed 50 years' service with the company. MR. A. W. TAYLOR has been appointed manager in Mr. Rudk in's place.
MR. J. C. R. B1RNEY has been appointed assistant general manager of David Brown Tractors (Engineering), Ltd. He joined the David Brown organization in 1933 and was transferred to the tractor company in 1942. Since 1944 he has been in charge of agricultural machinery sales. MR. T. A. LAZENBY, who joined the organization in 1946, has been appointed agricultural sales manager. Ma. C. F. Ward has been appointed homes sales manager. MR. R. W. LmanitooKE, industrial sales manager, will continue to be in charge of sales of industrial tractors and ancillary equipment.
MR. G, A. DICKINS has been appointed assistant manager of the technical department of the Vacuum Oil Co., Ltd.. He was formerly superintendent of the company's central laboratories. MR. V. H. RUMBLE has been appointed superintendent of the central laboratories and will continue to direct the activities of the products division. MR. F. J. PaimaN and MR. P. E. B. VA1LE have been appointed assistant supervisors of the products division. MR. T. PATERSON, formerly supervisor of the lubricant and allied products section, central laboratories, has been transferred to the headquarters office.

MR. F. C. HADLEY, secretary of Birmingham Transport Department, is to retire. He has served the undertaking for 46 years. Recently he retired from the secretaryship of the Midland Area of the Municipal Passenger Transport Association, an important position in the industry which he had held since 1943.
