Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IT is understood that an inquiry for I transport for over 2,000 tons was handed in at the stand of the Road Haulage Association at the Royal Show at Nottingham, last week, on behalf of the contractors to the Royal Agricultural Society of England.

It concerns the movement of the whole of the fixtures from Nottingham to Newcastle upon Tyne, where next year's Show will be held. The work would have to be done between September and November, and, it is thought, would require mostly eightwheelers, It is likely that the work would be shared by members of the East Midland Area of the Association, which is at present considering how best to tender for the contract.

Justification for the Association's participation in The Royal" was afforded also by requests from exhibitors for haulage from the Show ground. The East Midland Area organization of the R.H.A. supplied transport promptly.

The largest job was the provision of about 25 cattle trucks, plus horseboxes for heavy horses, for use by the railways. The vehicles were marshalled at a central point last Friday morning and went in convoy to the Show ground. They operated a ferry service to London Road Station, Nottingham, during the greater part of Friday night.

LEYLAND EARN EXTRA Ulm, 'VEHICLES produced by Leyland V Motors, Ltd., in the first half of this year were worth £11m. more than those made in the comparable period of 1954. This big increase includes a rise of more than 20 per cent, in deliveries of large heavy-duty vehicles for home and export, whilst the number of double-deckers for the home market is nearly 40 per cent. greater.

Production of Comet vehicles has been raised by 40 per cent.

M.P.s WANT RAIL MOTORWAY A GROUP of Scottish Members of F. Parliament, led by Sir David Robertson, Conservative Member for Caithness and Sutherland, is pressing a proposal to convert into a motorway the 155 miles of railway between Inverness and Wick and Thurso. It is estimated that the work would cost £4.5m., and would take 18 months.

TASKERS TO MAKE CONTAINERS IT has been arranged for Taskers of I Andover (1932), Ltd., Andover, to make and sell Edwards detachable containers compleif with rails. Use of such equipment was described in an article, "Containers teed Delivery" (The Commercial Motor, June 3), dealing with the loading system employed at the Shrewsbury warehouse of Morgan Edwards, Ltd.
