The Accident at Todmorderi. On the night of the 2nd inst., as the Todmorden Corporation's "No. 5 " Ryknield motorbus was travelling near 1 "THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR IS OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED BY THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR USERS' ASSOCIATION. (n) Hebden Bridge, at about 10 o'clock, the driver missed his gears close to the top of a short hill at a place called Lobmill Arches. The bus ran back, and got on the inclined side of the road, with the result that it tilted to an angle which caused the canopy— not the body as a whole—to strike a telegraph pole. The impact swung the body round as though on a pivot, the front portion slowly settling to the ground, whilst the back portion remained on the frame. The passengers were able to keep ,their seats in this position, but many of those inside were cut by broken glass, though only one ---a lady—was severely cut, and one other sustained a broken collar-bone. We learn that the passengers are all progressing favourably, and that the two more serious cases are well on the way to recovery. The explanation of the failure of the brakes is a matter which will, no doubt, be thoroughly investigated.
