Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A method of producing rigid polyurethane insulating foams in-situ without the use of expensive complicated foaming machines is reported to have been evolved by Quentplass Ltd, Boston Spa, Yorkshire LS23 7BZ. The system is known as Quentfoam and it is now available in a range of different densities.

The material is supplied as two separate liquids of equal volume. One liquid is poured into the other and mixed by stirring, it is then poured out immediately before foaming commences. After about 45sec the system begins to foam and after 2-min expansion will be complete and the foam will take the shape of the void in which it has been poured. After 10min the foam will have set and have good mechanical and chemical resistant properties.

Applications quoted for Quentfoam include the insulation of refrigerated and heated bodies. Other uses include packaging where the object to be packed is placed in a polythene bag and the foam formed around it; at the destination the foam is simply cut away.
