Du-al Furniture Ltd has just placed in service this 1800 cu ft capacity Leyland Laird 1200 pantechnicon; a further four are on order with Kennings Car Mart. Construction embodies ribbed alloy side panels, 1in. soft wood floor and translucent glassfibre roof. Operating between the furniture manufacturing plant in the Rhondda Valley, the head office in Harrow and customers throughout the country, the transporters will prominently feature newstyle colours and logo.

With bodywork by King and Taylor (Commercial) Ltd, Godalming, Surrey, this 10-pallet side-loading vehicle is one of 200 supplied to SPD Ltd. Overall body length is 22ft giving side apertures 18ft long by 6ft 10in, high, enclosed by sliding doors hung on Coburn track. A full width and height alloy roller shutter is fitted at the rear. The steal-framed arc welded body is mounted on a Ford 01000 206in. wheelbase chassis and the average unladen weight is 5 tons 18cwt This cattle truck is the first of its kind to be built by J. H. Jennings and Son LtcL of Sandbach. Cheshire, on to a Scania chassis and was recently delivered to John P. Harrison, of Kelbrook, near Colne, Lancs. The

chassis is a Scania LB80 which has a wheelbase of 16ft 413-in. and is plated for 16-tons gvw operation. The vehicle is 22ft long and 8ft wide and has a stained and varnished body constructed from utile board a form of mahogany timber) and ash pillars, the boarded roof being covered with galvanized steel. A spring-assisted ramp is fitted at the rear, calf doors are positioned at the nearside front and offside rear and ventilators are provided at two levels on each side of the body.

Walk-through bodies of aluminium construction, of the type shown in this photograph, have been added to the Tonbridge range of bodies produced by E. J. Baker Motors Ltd, Avebury Avenue, Tonbridge. A 316 cu ft version, costing £455, is designed for the Bedford CF 106in. wheelbase chassis while a 380 cu ft model, coating £520, is for the CF long-wheelbase 126in. wheelbase chassis. Features include a front end of glass-fibre and sliding doors, and options include a full-height aluminium shutter, bulkheads and body linings.
