Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

COLLOWING a decision by the I Michelin Tyre Co. Ltd. to rate 10.00-20 "X" tyres at 60 cwt. when used as singles, it is reported that 10.00-20 16-ply-rating tyres reconunended for the same loading as these Michelin radialcord tyres are to be officially uprated by the S.M.M.T. to the same new figure. There will also be revisions to the load ratings of other tyres, otherwise anomalies would arise with 10.00-20 16-ply having the same rating as larger tyres.

Since May, 1964, when differential tyre-load ratings were introduced (a greater load was allowed for a tyre when used as a single than when used in twin formation) the 10.00-20 16-ply and "X" have carried a capacity rating of 56•75 cwt. single (as when used on the front wheels) and 49 cwt. when twinned.

With the introduction of increased weights and the need for a 6-ton frontaxle loading on a 16-ton-g.v.w. fourwheeler it became necessary to have front tyres at least 11.00-20 to comply with S.M.M.T. recommendations. It is understood that there has been considerable representation to have the rating for 10.00-20 tyres increased to allow this size to be used on front wheels, and these latest moves will now permit them to be used in this way.
