Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, which takes effect on 1 July, will force manufacturers to ensure their end-of-life goods are recycled. And the emphasis will be on business, rather than consumers. 'Every year, the manufacturers must send the Environment Agency data about the goods they expect to circulate and, in that year, they will have to recycle their endof-life goods," says an EA spokesman.

Manufacturers will be responsible for paying for the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment. According to the Department of Trade and Industry's website, WEEE will oblige the "distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge".

Road transport operators such as Wincanton and Christian Salvesen are Involving themselves in this returns marketand as the market develops there will be plenty of business opportunities.
