Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Conveyor System, Cemex, Hart

Redroth operator Neil Hart runs four mixers, three six-wheelers and a conveyor-equipped four-axle rigid. Although they are in the colours of Cemex (formerly RMC), Hart prefers to arrange his own finance and make his own choice of chassis.

Hart, who also runs tippers, sees the mixers as part of the larger service he provides to Comex, for whom he also transports aggregate and screed. His involvement in groundwork and muckaway means he is also able to bring business to Comes.

The Redruth batching plant is very busy and the conveyor was installed at Cemex's request. Hart believes it means the sacrifice of just over half a metre of payload, a loss recouped by the extra charge for its use around £30 per delivery. It was sourced from Europa at more than £15,000, giving a total cost for the rig of £91,000.

"The conveyor has been very useful, it has got more work for the truck," says Hart; for the customer who wants only one or two loads it is far cheaper than hiring a concrete pump at £350 a day. Hart pays a small premium to his mixer drivers in recognition of the need to clean the equipment and has no problem recruiting—there's currently awaiting list.
