• by BIN Godwin MAN is busy preparing the first of its TG-A based site vehicles for a major off-road and construction show in Munich.
Four construction variants of the TG-A will be spotlighted at the Bauma show on 2-8 April, including a 6x4 chassis fitted with three-way tipping body Production is scheduled to start in late summer; lefthand-drive versions of the 6x2 and 4x2 site chassis will be available from April. The show will also allow operators to assess revisions to the TG-A including a heavy-duty steel bumper with a 50-tonne drawbar coupling—this is designed to facilitate recovery when bogged down. Other features designed to suit off-road working include extra protection for the radiator and steps.
Other exhibitors are planning to feature the new MAN on their stands: one company will be showing a five-axle F2000 chassis with a concrete pumping unit incorporating a 52m mast. The site vehicle market has been static in Germany for the past three years, but MAN's share has risen from 30% in 1998 to 37% in 2000.
MAN will also be exhibiting a range-topping XXL-cabbed TG-A tractor with a 500hp Euro-3 engine. The company hopes this tractor will win sales from trans-European operators; it is designed to meet strict Austrian environmental conditions.
