I%JIILK-FLOAT bodies for Thames IV! Trader 11-ft.-wheelbase, normalcontrol 30-cwt. chassis are now offered by R. W. Osborne and Son Ltd., Saffron Walden, Essex, Four basic types make up the new range—flat-four and lowloader bodies on the chassis/cab and chassis/scuttle versions of the model. Various alternative fittings are also available.

The bodies are of composite construetion--steel with a timber floor, roof framing and headboard framing—being mounted on to steel underframes comprising ladder-section centre runners fabricated from 1.5 in by 1-5 in. by 0.125 in. steel angle, 6 in. by 1.75 in. by 14 s.w.g. side raves and 14 s.w.g. rear cross-bearers. Flooring is 1-in.-thick timber. The lowloader bodies are to the same general design as those with a flat floor, but incorporate steel channel cross-bearers and allsteel wheelboxes.

When the bodies are mounted on the chassis/scuttle version the cab built on by Osborne incorporates sliding doors carried on runners on the outside of the body. The division between the cab and body is of 12-mm.-thick resin-bond.:d plywood.

The crate capacity of the flat-floor body is 35 per layer and the loading height is 3 ft. 2 in. On the low-loader the capacity is 31 crates per layer at the floor level and 35 above; the loading height is 2 ft. 9.5 in.

Basic prices of the bodies are: flat floor on chassis/cab, £170; on chassis/scuttle, £315; low-loader bri, chassis/cab, £185; on chassis/scuttle, £325. Optional extras on the flat-floor body include a fully panelled rear end which costs £14 10s. and a corrugated light alloy floor which adds £33 to the price. The low-loader prices refer to bodies with shallow side raves and separate wings; deep side valance panels can be incorporated for an extra E10.
