L.G.O.C. Stock.

We observe that the Financial Editor of " The Daily Mail," in the issue of that journal for Saturday last, recommends stock-holders to sell their stoek for cash in the market. A paragraph proceeds: "We prefer that course to either joining the combination or remaining omnibus stock-holders." This is precisely the advice which TEE COMMERCIAL MOTOR tendered three weeks ago (page 423 ante).

The Committee May Suggest- A correspondent who is .1sually well informed gives it as his opinion that the recommendations of the Taxicab Arbitration Committee, whose deliberations are still cloaked in mystery, may include a payment of 4d. ner mile, with petrol found, by the driver, or, alternatively, a total payment of 4-id. per mile, with petrol supplied by the owners. Such an arrangement. would lead to serious congestion on fast-moving ranks, and outlying ranks would be badly served.

Troubles of the Cabby.

London drivers are desirous of obtaining means for ascertaining the names and addresses of persons lodging false and unntst accusations with regard to cabmen with the police. An endeavour is to be made to induce the Home Office to give permission for licences to be made out. in the drivers' names instead of the vendors', when the cab is being bought by hire-purchase. A movement is also on foot tp secure the abolition of the recentlyimposed medical test. A deputation with these objects in view will wait on Mr. McKenna, to-day (Thursday). - The "CM.' at the Westminster Council Meeting.

Delegates from many of the Metropolitan Borough Councils met last week at the Westminster City Hall for the purpose of discussing motor-omnibus traffic in London. The Town Clerk of Camberwell was of opinion that motorbuses should not pay a tax any more than other heavy commercial vehicles. When_ niud-gnards and mud splashing were being discussed, this gentleman scored heavily against his opponents by quoting the article " Splashguard Tests in Paris," which appeared in our last issue, early particulars of which he had received from the Editor. The meeting was convened to discuss mudsplashing, but taxation of motor vehicles proved absorbing.
