TURNERS (SOHAM) HAS taken delivery of the first of a batch of 30 premium-specification MercedesBenz Actros 2544 MegaSpace tractor units.
East Anglian dealership Orwell Truck and Van has supplied the flat-floored Actros cabs, which are on six-year Mercedes-Benz repair and maintenance contracts.They are powered by a 440hp BlueTec engine, and will be used on refrigerated operations.
The company’s first Actros, bought in 2010, was used for seed transport work. By the end of January, when the last of its order of MegaSpace units enters service, Turners will be operating 55 Actros, including long-distance versions. Turners says it is recording average returns of 9.6mpg for the Actros.
