Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Parcels company Lynx Express has won its biggest contract — worth a seven-figure sum over three years — with the Department of Social Security.

The National Freight Consortium subsidiary, which expects to move into the black for the first time when NFC's results come out this month, will take on 100 drivers and will buy 100 Ford Escort vans to service the operation.

It will carry envelopes from DSS head offices to regional offices around the country and will use two airlines, British Midland and Loganair, to deliver to remote Scottish islands.

Lynx's other major contracts are with the Ministry of Defence, the 35 Group travel brochure distributors, and automotive parts producer Fenner. It also carriers map materials for Ordnance Survey.

The company is looking for extended contracts instead of ad hoc parcel work according to marketing manager Kevin Appleton.

"We are tailoring services for specific customers rather than saying "this is our service, take it or leave it", as some of our competitors are."

Lynx expects to turn over 270 million this year, up 214 million on last year. NFC's results will be announced on Monday (19 December).
