Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO DEPUTY Traffic Commissioners to the South Eastern Traffic Area have been appointed by Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley.

Ex-industrial tribunal chairman Derek Grange-Bennett took up his position as deputy to the chairman of Traffic Commissioners for the South East in October. He will be joined from April 1 next year by Alan Mundy, a former borough solicitor.

Mr Grange-Bennett, who was called to the Bar in 1949, worked for Esso Petroleum in various legal capacities between 1953 and 1976. From 1977 to 1980 he was a part-time industrial tribunals chairman, practising at the same time in common law chambers.

Mr Mundy qualified as a solicitor in 1950 and worked in local government from then until 1981, latterly as first deputy county clerk for Surrey County Council. After taking early retirement he became a part-time town planning and local government consultant with a City of London firm of consultants.

Mr Mundy is also a member of the Home Office unit of the Civil Service Selection Board.
