Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new driving licence application form came into use as from December 1.

The new form (D1(J)) is printed in green and black on a single sheet of paper and will replace the two-sheet form DL.1. A separate sheet of additional notes (leaflet D333, Notes which may help applicants for a driving licence) may be obtained with the new form, which is available from Local Taxation Offices and most Post Offices.

Form Dl(J) asks for the. applicant's date of birth. The DoE says this ineeded for the centralized driver licensing system which is planned to come into operation durii 1973. This system will be based on a sini central record of drivers which will conta many millions of names. Dates of birth 1,1 be necessary to distinguish people with t same name and initials. For the first tit since driving licences became necessa applicants are required to state whett male or female.

When the centralized system beg operations a Welsh version of the new fo will be introduced in the Principali Meanwhile form DL.1(W) will be used
