legal system of rail, road and river transport in the EEC has been rejected by the Commission of the European Economic Community on the grounds of cost.
The proposal was contained in a written question to which the Commission replied that the brochure which contained this information was issued on July 1 1962 and has not been updated since.
There would be a considerable amount of costly work involved in collating, translating printing and circulating a revised brochure, especially as it would have to cover the provisions in force in the enlarged Community.
The 1962 edition was not a success, said the Commission. It contained only a synopsis of legislation and statutes which did not permit detailed studies on particular problems and reference to the full texts was necessary for practical purposes.
