A RANGE of frameless-van semi-trailers has been introduced by Boden Trailers Ltd. They are designated the Mark 3 FV and complement the existing range of Boden semi-trailers with van bodies which are mounted on conventional chassis frames.

With the frameless models the running gear is mounted on a steel sub-frame and the body has full-width light-alloy crossmembers at 12in. spacing. Side and front walls are of corrugated aluminium, close pitched for maximum rigidity and strength and the interior is lined with plywood.

Internal width is 7ft 11in. or slightly less according to the model. The double rear doors, sealed by plastics-coated foam cushions in the door bevels, are fitted with Anti-Rax catches. To eliminate the possibility of leakage, a one-piece alloy roof panel is bonded to the roof members. And to provide strength at the front end there is a steel front bulkhead which is continued underneath the body to incorporate the rubbing plate.

Single-, tandemand three-axle running gear is available for the new range with leaf-spring or air suspension. Brake sizes are 16.5in. by 7in. and the Sin. tubular axles have a capacity of 20,00011a (8.39 tons).

Lengths from 26ft to 34ft in lft increments are available for the Mark 3 FV and the model is also obtainable with an open top with roof bows at 3ft spacings to support the tarpaulin. All models have the familiar Boden-design anti-underrun rear bumper which is built on to the end of the runninggear sub-frame.
