THE first Strachans-bodied Bristols to be built for many years, and the first Bristols for Reading Corporation Transport are now entering service. A total of 42 of these oneman single-deckers based on the RELL6G chassis are on order, and will replace doubledeck motor buses which, in turn, will replace Reading's remaining trolleybuses. The new single-deckers seat 33 passengers in the dual entrance bodies, and have maximum room for standing passengers. A high cant rail allows standing passengers a good view, even at the rear of the buses.
• ROTHERHAM CORPORATION transport committee reports that the finance and general purposes committee is to be asked to include in the estimates of Capital expenditure for the next financial year the provision of £90,000 for the purchase of 12 Daimler Fleetline double-deck buses.
