Geoff Dossetter (pictured), head of external affairs at the HA, writes: "Commercial vehicle operators have been on the receiving end of very substantial vehicle insurance premium increases-9% in 2000 and 15% in 2001."
He points out that in recent years operators have made enormous progress in best practice and risk management.
"The HGV accident rate per 100 million vehicle kilometres reduced from 57 in 1990 to 52 in 2000. Why then are commercial vehicle premiums rising so dramatically?" asks Dossetten
