Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Lafarge Aggregates has placed an order for 28 new straight-frame Wilcox tipping trailers, pictured during tilt testing at the Qinetiq proving ground near Cherlsey. The 44-tonne rated trailer was tipped to its full height of 9.5m and to an angle of 45 ° on a 7° incline, as prescribed by IRTE guidelines on tipper stability. Lafarge requested the tests prior to confirming the order for the trailers. The artics have a potential payload of around

29,5-tonnes, the trailers weighing in at 6,900kg.

Wilcox suggests this is the first time a straight-frame tipping trailer has undergone and passed such a test at the new maximum gross vehicle weight without an additional stabilising frame. The Wilcox trailer features a 10.1m-long monocoque alloy body mounted on a Tirsanmanufactured high-tensile steel chassis, and is equipped with the SAF Intra-disc Plus ll axle and suspension and Wabco EBS. It also features the Strawson 'inclinometer'—an onboard audible warning system which alerts the operator if the trailer is on an incline of 4" or more when tipping.
