• Permitting drivers to take insufficient daily rest and break the 41-hour driving rules cost Oldham haulier Alan Wilson £605 in fines and costs when he appeared before the town's magistrates.
Wilson, who trades as A Wilson Transport, of Bardsley, had denied nine offences of permitting drivers Philip Gowers and David Drummond to breach the regulations.
Prosecuting, John Heaton told Oldham magistrates that the offences came to light when tachograph charts for December and January were checked by a traffic examiner.
It was obvious from the charts that offences were being committed and that Wilson had "shut his eyes to the obvious".
