Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Leyland Daf is set to boost its Series 60 Freighter range of 17-tanners with an uprated model. The new truck, likely to be badged FA 60.210, should go on sale in the autumn.

The move follows the trend towards more power in the twoaxle rigid class and gives the company a two-pronged attack in the 150kW (200hp)-plus sector, with the Series 60 joining the existing Daf-cabbed FA 1900, The Freighter was re-engined with the turbocharged 6.2 litre DNT Daf unit in 1989 to create the model now designated the FA 60.180.

It seems probable therefore that the more powerful variant will benefit from the DNS charge-cooled version of the 6.2 litre block which is currently used in the 1900. This would give the Freighter a 17% boost in power as well as 11% more torque, whith the charge-cooled engine being rated at 156kW (209hp) and 650Nm (47911bft).

Leyland Daf, as market leader in the 17-tonne sector, will find the uprated truck a useful weapon against rivals such as Mercedes, which has recently revamped its line-up to include the more powerful 1720 chassis.

Existing customers who prefer the more compact Freighter cab to that of the 1900 will also now have the choice of a truck more suited to longer distance distribution work.
