l'HE DOOR into Yugoslavia as been slammed shut on lauliers who do not have valid international permits. It was announced this week by the DoE that the Yugoglav tuthorities have decided to enforce their quota regulations and will no longer allow nonpermit holders through their borders on payment of a special tax.
A spokesman for the DoE said that the quota for the year of 2,500 tax-free permits had already been taken up. But they had managed to negotiate 1500 taxable permits for the rest of 1975.
These will be available from the International Road Freight Office in Newcastle but will only be issued in conjunction with permits for countries bordering Yugoslavia. The spokesman said that negotiations with the Yugoslays had been hampered by the large number of forged permits use.
