Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TOTAL operating and !finance costs in the road haulage in dustry rose by an estimated 7.56 per cent in the six months ended June 30, 1975, according to a statement by the Commercial Committee of the Road Haulage Association issued last week.

A survey conducted by that committee has revealed that total vehicle operating costs increased by an average of 5.92 per cent, overheads added" a further 1.67 per cent an finance charges showed a small decrease of 0.03 per cent.

• The main reasons for the continued rise in haulage costs says the RHA, are substantia increases in the average cost o: tyres (7.50 pc), materials ant outside repairs (10.75 pc) vehicle excise duty (33.33 pc) vehicles (16.37 pc deprecia tion), vehicle insurance (9.6; pc), 'administration (10.00 pc and establishment charge: (17.50 pc). Wage awards mad+ by some firms in January 1971 also contributed to the increas in costs during the period.

It has to be remembered tha negotiations for increases in oi prices and wage rates are du to take place later in the year
