AB.ET, trainee with the North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., Mr. M. Rourke, has been given a British Transport Commission' award by the Institute of Transport for his paper on traffic infection in road passenger transport. The Institute have announced a series of awards for papers submitted during the 1957-58 session, and in respect of successes in the examinations of May this year.

Mr. D. M. Sinclair, general manager of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., has received the Road Transport (Passenger) Medal for his paper on relations in industry, and the Institute Graduate Award has gone to Mr. A. J. Allum, of British Road Services, for his paper, "A road over the

sea." The Modern Transport Award has been gained by Mr. T. J. Donovan, of Coras Iompair Eireann, for his paper on productivity, in road goods transport.

The awards be presented by the president at the inaugural meeting of the 1958-59 session of the Institute to be held on October 13 at 5.45 p.m. in the Jarvis Hall, Royal Institute of British Architects, 66 Portland Place, London, WI— '
