• The bus is specifically designed for operation in rural areas. The 12 seats are of conventional pattern, offering full leg-room. There is a central gangway and space for luggage; overhead parcels ricks can also be provided. The front entrance has a sliding door, well situated for easy one-man operation. A number of seating layouts is available to meet the specific requirements of operators.

The four-cylindered power units have been modified where necessary to meet the regulations. The type C.39 PV2 dynamo, for example, has been replaced by atype. C.45 PV5, and the petrolengined version has been provided with a carburetter drip-tray.

This model also carries two 6-v. batteries in series and exhaust-pipe protection has been installed. The rear suSpension units, of both versions, have also received some modification to deal with the increased weight: OBITUARY

Mr. Atherton, who was 63, was general manager of Eastbourne Transport Department and member of the council of the Public Transport Association. He was well known for his work in the Municipal Passenger Transport Association, having served on the employers' panel of the National Joint Industrial Council, and on the executive committee of the Federation of Municipal Passenger Transport Employers.

Mr. Harborne, who was 76, was for 33 years works _accountant of Bristol Commercial Vehicles, Lid.

Mr. Meikle had been Scottish regional secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union since 1944 and was a past chairman of the Scottish Trades Union Congress. He served on several Government and other bodies, including the Transport Users Consultative Committee. He was 60.

Road Services was introduced in February, 1958, some 400 ideas have been submitted and more than £300 has been paid in awards in respect of 62 suggestions. The highest award, of £25, has been paid to Mr. P. Hargin, a foreman mechanic at Glasgow Parcels Branch, who devised a cradle trolley to facilitate the servicing of Scarnmell Scarabs.
