M. J. E. Howstans, A.M.INsr.T., has been appointed rolling-stock engineer of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., in succession to MR. W. G. A. HALL, who has , become chief engineer of the Potteries Motor Traction Co., Ltd. In March, 1946, Mr. Hollands was accepted as a trainee under the B.E.T. scheme for training men for the higher posts within the bus industry. His three-year course was undertaken with the Western Welsh concern. On completion of his training, Mr. Hollands was appointed personal assistant to the general manager of the North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., and he returned to B.M.M.O. in July, 1950, as *assistant engineer.
