Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Review of Northern Coach -Owners' Programmes. Popularity of Circular Tours.

Q 0 far as motor coaching during the August Bank Holiday is concerned, the coach owners in the Merseyside district did not have much cause for complaint. Almost every company specialized on the longer tours, and especially those which took passengers to destinations well off the beaten track.

In many instances there was a diffidence about broadcasting the fares, reasonable though they were, and one company, on the Saturday before the holiday, made the adroit announcement that, on and after Tuesday, August 8th, " the following revised' programme, etc., would come into operation," scheduling their programme and the fares, which, of course, were in striking contrast to the Bank Holiday announcements of a few other coach owners.

C. F. Rymer, Ltd., of Wallasey and Liverpool, had every coach in commission for the holiday, and their Llangollen centre was taken by storm. " The Woodlands," at Llangollen, owned by the company, is an estate well knownto coaching passengers, and the long sequence of bad weather has induced the company to boom their centre as an allweather attraction. " Never mind the weather," they say, " we provide the fun, wet or fine. When the sun shineswe hold dances on the spacious lawns, and when it rains we hold impromptu concerts."

Tours to Bettws-y-coed, Llandudno, Rhyl, the Lake District, Erbistock-onDee, Mold, as well as circular runs, were all boomed very successfully. Week-end tours of three or four days' duration in North Wales, although not so numerous, were well supported.

As to the circular tours, the shorter ones were discontinued on the Bank Holiday, and in their place were substituted longer ones, the most popular of

which was that taking in Llandegla Moors, Ruthin, Nant-y-Garth, Llanarmon, etc.

The illustration on the previous page shows one of the numerous gems of scenery—Raby Mere—invested by W. B. Horn, Ltd's., Birkenhead fleet of Straker-Squires. Rally Mere is about seven miles from Birkenhead, and there is nä direct communication by railway.
