Turners (Soham) buys Dart Distribution
TURNERS (SOHAM) HAS boosted its container haulage capacity with the acquisition of Felixstowe-based Dart Distribution.
Although both sides remained tight-lipped about the deal. CM understands that Turners effectively took control on 9 April.
Turners already has a container haulage operation in Felixstowe where it runs 40 trucks, but the addition of Dart Distribution gives it greater scale.
Dart runs depots in Felixstowe. Birmingham, Daventry, Leeds and Teesport and is licensed for around 70 vehicles, Current MD Andy Packer remains listed as a director, but as yet there is no indication how long he will stay in the role.
With its healthy balance sheet, Turners has frequently dipped into the market to buy smaller firms, although previous acquisitions have been in the bulk-powder sector, with Cumbrian firm Sam Ostle the most recent.
