Logistix Group attention overwhelms Transpeed

chrts.tindattrarbi.co.uk TRANSPEED SAYS it has been overwhelmed by the attention it has attracted after taking on the transport work, staff and vehicles run by collapsed operator Caveman Consultants. which traded as The Logistix Group.
Paul Nellis, general manager at Gateshead-based Transpeed, says he was unaware of The Logistix Group's background and directors' history.
He says he has spent six weeks trying to recover lorries Transpeed had agreed to take on from the fi nance company it shares with the Middlesbrough haulier (CM 18 March). because they are spread throughout the country.
Nellis says Transpeed has employed nine former Logistix Group staff and should eventually run 13 of the firm's trucks.
The process has not been easy, says Nellis: "When this was presented to us. we thought. yes, we will give this a go.
"We weren't prepared for all the attention we got.
"We had a reporter on the phone. people at the door asking for money, it was overwhelming. We have nothing to hide. We are as transparent as anything."
Whs. who runs Transpeed with wife and director Tammi, adds that a new business, Transpeed Imports and Exports. has been set up in order to break into the international market.
Last month. North Western Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell revoked The Logistix Group's 0-licence in a written decision, following a public inquiry that had dragged on since September 2009.
The Logistix Group did not respond to questions.
