Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Eaton's AutoShift is available on a wide range of F2000 models—it can be combined with any of the 12-litre straight-six engines from 310 to 460hp. It is no heavier than the equivalent manual box, but there is a price: it adds around 12,250 to the cost of the truck.

This is less than some other systems, and increased clutch life and improved fuel consumption may well close the gap.

Intriguingly. MAN has not committed itself only to AutoShift: the firm has long been associated with ZF as well as Eaton, and is likely to offer ZF's AS-Tronic box (already offered by Iveco) as an option before long.
