Insurance companies are not flavour of the month among theft victims: 19% of claimants did not get a penny and only 12% had their claims met in full. Nearly 70% say they lost earnings as a result of the theft, despite being insured.

Most hauliers-66%--feel that truck and trailer manufacturers could go a long way to fight the crime epidemic by fitting antitheft devices: nearly 60% would be prepared to pay extra for vehicles fitted with anti-theft devices as standard.
