Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Messrs. Elrick and Hutcheon, haulage contractors, of Aberdeen, appealed recently against the refusal of their applications in respect of an A licence for an additional vehicle of 24 tons unladen weight. They made twO applications; when the first was refused they lodged the other, and supported it with fresh evidence.

The Appeal Tribunal has now given its decision, instructing the Licensing Authority's decision to be set aside, and ordering a further inquiry into the applications.

Also, when Mr. Alexander Hutcheon, whose son is one of the partners of -Messrs. Elrick and Hutcheon, applied for renewal of his A licence, it was refused by the Licensing Authority, and the Appeal Tribunal has dismissed his recent appeal. ,

An appeal of outstanding interest will lbe held in Aberdeen, this month. Leyland Lynx Unladen Weight.

In a Leyland advertisement, published in our issue for last week, it was stated that the Lynx weighs " under 30 cwt. unladen." This should have read " under 50 cwt."

Big Orders for Lowestoft Coachbuilder.

Maidstone and District ' Motor Services, Ltd.; has placed an order for 84 single-deck bus bodies with Eastern Coach Works, Ltd„ Laundry Lane, Lowestoft. This concern of bodybuilders has also received an order for 14 double-deckers from the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd., and another for six double-deckers from Crosvine Motor Services. Ltd.

Centralizing Appointments Work.

With a view to centralizing the appointments work for executive posts in industry and certain branches cf engineering, the Management Appointments Board, which is licensed by the London County Council, is being conducted by the Confederation of Management Associations, the hon. secretary of which is Mr, R. Pugh, 52, Grosvenor Gardens, London,.. S.W.1. The number .of professional members in the institutions served by.the.Boarl is approximately 9,000.

• 'A new booklet, giving details of the Ford film library, has recently been issued by the Ford Motor Co., Ltd. It describes a large number of sound and silent films available, without charge, to approved schools, colleges and clubs, the subjects dealing with the features of modern manufacturing 'methods at

the company's works at Dagenham. road safety, and up-to-date methods in transport and farming.

"CM." Volumes Available.

In addition to the bound volumes of The Commercial Motor, which are available at our Coventry office, as mentioned in our issue for last week, our Birmingham office, 61-65, New Street, also has certain volumes available covering the period from February, 1931, to October, 1935. Those available at 50, Ifertford Street, Coventry, range front the.year 1913 to 1933. In both cases, the volumes are free.

Notwithstanding the large output of tractors in the United States, that country continues to purchase increasing quantities of European-made tractors. Imports last year reached a total of 2,562' machines, valued ..it 2275,831, as compared with 2,374 units and 2230,743 respectively in 1936.

2215,000 for Traffic Relief.

A scheme for dealing with a part of a big traffic. problem at Hull, caused by railway level-crossings on busy roads in the city, was advanced a stage farther at a meeting of the Hull City Council on April 7. This scheme provides for the bypassing of the levelcrossing on Anlaby Road by the erection of a reinforced-concrete viaduct over the railway. A provisional estimate of the cost is 2215,000.
